ADSB VEX Robotics provides over 250 youth across Algoma with the opportunity to learn about robotics and compete in VEX Robotics competitions.
Participating in our program, youth have the opportunity to not only learn about engineering, design and programming, but they also develop leadership, teamwork, communication and public speaking skills. We are looking to provide these skills to aid participants in become future leaders in our community.
ADSB VEX Robotics supports over 50 school based teams across Algoma, regardless of school board. Last season, saw over 12 teams move on to the provincial level of competition and 4 of those teams attended the world championships. Teams are supported through the purchase of robot kits, supplies and hosting two regional competitions.
We also participate in several activities outside of competition, including: hosting Girl Powered events, workshops that engage young women robotics and engineering activities with the goal of closing the gender gap in these fields; community demonstrations, where we share our passion for robotics with the public; and several week-long summer robotics camps.
